Say goodbye to all the heyday in the blogosphere: PFW has come to an end (saddening, to say the least). However, the buzz surrounding the great looks from this year's collections is far from stopping. A great many trends dotted the runways of each fashion week (here's to you New York and Milan <3) - oversized outerwear, for example, stood alongside deconstructed garments of a diaphanous nature. In terms of colorways, pastels and muted hues took presence, while patterns and prints danced in tandem with evening wear (Elie Saab, for instance). My favorite trend you ask? Peplums! Christopher Bailey's collection from Burberry Prorsum exhibited rampant use of these. Yet again they appeared in the Mugler collection and Castiglioni showed no qualms in adding these to her show. Here's my favorite look :

Here's the rundown: softened, wrapped furs mixed in with geometric prints and minimized waists (<3). On the whole, peplums are a great addition to just about any look: correctly sized with the wearer, they take emphasis off of the midsection, while adding depth to the lower torso, thereby "lengthening" it and exuding a more feminine aspect to the whole.

Castiglioni's RTW collection (making a dash from "rounds to corners") eschews her signature prints to a degree. Bold, geometric details were the star of the show, while gold-adorned elements added whimsical classiness to looks of a more mature nature. Overall, I felt that this collection was tailored more for the older blokes (more or less) vs her collection at H&M. She'd have to try really hard to make me not adore her line. Great job chicka <3

As if to blaze the trails of  innovation, the Louis Vuitton collection deserves special mention. First off, Marc Jacobs is a GENIUS (that's putting it mildly). After already dazzling me with his RTW collection last month , I'm yet again having to curb my zeal for his designs. By way of extension from NYFW, the LV show had a large takeaway: a railroad motif set the pace for models decked in more "Mary Poppins"-ish garments (vintage, oversized hats yet again), although these looks were elevated to an extent by the inclusion of "porters" who accoutered the looks with accessories.  Lengthened, sleek a-line garments, jewel encrusted duffles and carryalls were shown. Feathers, a minor but distinct detail, made an appearance, while youthful patterns and overdyed prints carried the looks to prominence. Here are a couple of pics for good measure:

Many will argue (still fewer will feud), but the unconventional elements of this show, together with the signature eccentric designs of Jacobs, allows this show to rank up there with Burberry Prorsum (still my favorite show this year, by far). *sigh* does it get any better than this? <3

Have a great day :]
