For the world rollers among us, including any aspiring modern gentleman - of the international breed or not, the road to developing a sincerely crafted use of etiquette has just as much importance as the ability of cultivating your perfect self. Putting aside all other "dandy-ish" mantras though, Chivas Regal recognizes the angst of this idea and their attempt to capture its essence is illustrated in their handbook The Gentlemen's Guide to Making a Toast. Without delving too much into company's bio (which can be followed up on here), their handbook underlines the commemoration of  its ‘Real Friends, Make Time’ campaign - an all important guide for reference in upholding camaraderie with similarly minded friends. The guide includes illustrations from artist Dale Murray, who has acquired healthy renown for his contributions. The full rundown is below :)
Coming in at almost five pages, the handbook, for all ostensible purposes, doesn't seem to be quite as comprehensive as most. The hidden gems are all inside, however; it's appearance belies the true wealth of information that's to be had as you immediately peruse the internals. At it's outset, the guide details tips on international etiquette and specifically examines the toasting rituals for the major regions of the globe. Really, it's quite the read - I found myself fascinated with the eccentricities of Chinese drinking tradition and overall, I found my most personal identification with Italy's more rigorous offerings. As an extrovert, casually meeting eyes with dinner guests is mostly second-nature to me - this is a skill that the handbook defines as having roots in Italian tradition.
Readers will find solace in small, historical facts and tidbits that are peppered throughout. While they're brief in extent, they provide groundwork that accurately portrays the niceties that call for almost any occasion. Whether you happen to be a seasoned jetsetter needing a quick refresher or if you happen to be on your first international sojourn, Chivas Regal's guide makes for an astonishingly invaluable read. Cheers!

I've read this post twice now, and I cannot for the life of me remember why I haven't commented! I love all things etiquette. It's like the social norm that somehow seems to be out of the norm, but when done correctly, it can take you far.

    Did you say 5 pages?

Well, I think that sounds about right..For women it would be 235, wouldn't you say? But I think that's because we like stories and applications to the story, and every little detail. Men, they want the straight facts, with perhaps a well told joke or two thrown in.

I will be tucking this away for an idea for a Christmas gift!

I'm with you Amber - anything relating to etiquette is so important. I think for women, you're absolutely correct too - my friend in FLA read this and thought the guide was way too short hahaha :D
