Much to the delight of H&M fans everywhere (including myself, while paying tribute to the "Marni" men hahaha), Castiglioni's hotly anticipated collab is well on it's way to set a terrifically stylish outlook for S/S 2012. Although the Swedish clothier experienced financial woes earlier in the year, things are looking up (hats off to ya, Mr. Persson :3) and with a big name like Marni behind your brand, I'm more than sure that anyone will scarcely deny the fact that March will be a busy month. Like the Versace collection preceding it, I'm hoping to see many creamy and warm hues (tangerine tango, among others) with the inclusion of Castiglioni's usual pairing of boho aesthetic atop wildly stretched colors. Can't wait until March? You're in the same boat as I am :3

As the title expresses, I'll be on my way to Atlanta today! The university is treating the students and workers to the Battle of the Bands. Being in Americus, GA (3 hours away from Atl, btw :\) can be a drag to an extent, as I've always found my niche in the city life. It'll be a welcome change to the crazy weather we've been having down here and if things really fall into place, I'll score some Starbucks as well (gotta have my vanilla bean frappe *sighs*).

Have a great day!

With Spring nuances on the horizon, I decided to put together an illustration reiterating points from my previous post.

For me, these pair of carrot fit trousers represent the nicest fit I've seen currently. While many people overly worry about the seat of the pants (I can admit that it sometimes irks me too, :/) I always give jealous scrutiny to the area immediately below the knee. If the leg opening is too wide or bunches excessively, it's time to put them back on the rack. I'm in college, tailors are expensive, rampant recessions are on the march. Such factors dissuade me from wearing ready-mades.Some may take a stance on the other extreme, but from trying on hundreds of types of slim/smart bottoms, I can honestly say that so many companies lose sight of a proper fit. Making money on the masses is understandable. Method is the soul of business after all, right? Befriending your local tailor is all well and dandy, although the plight of ill-fitting pieces continues to keep us up to our eyes in poorly executed OTR-wear. For the record, I say no to sack fits of any kind (for my sake at least). But to continue...

While remaining in its infancy, the rapid recurrence of carryover between classic fitting garments and slim/smart fits in menswear is something to take note of. Study closely the looks of Thom Brown, Lucas Ossendrijver, Donatella Versace from their last two seasons- these are just a few that definitely fit into this gamut. Slowly, and I mean VERY slowly, is my interest becoming accustomed to classic fits put forth through gentlemen bygone. Many would conclude that my tastes parallel the growth of the industry - I say to them that sometimes you have to run before you walk :)

Have a great day!

As I previously mentioned in my first post, the internet (and blogosphere, to an extent) is beleaguered with many other "Society" blogs, a fact that almost dashed my dreams of creating my own in the first place. Recourse had its way (not including my recent stint of downtime over here - that's an entirely different animal) and I finally decided on a new name for this project. Much like the aptly termed "Artfully Disheveled" mantra that Magnificent Bastard is so well known for, my decision to change the name of my blog echoes that sentiment that I live by: the ability to dress well, yet remain controlled without appearing too stiff and high-strung. Thus, "A Disheveled Refinement" took the stage, a name that I believe is befitting for a guy of my character (notwithstanding my love design as a whole :]). As of this post, the name and domain are fully changed. Time to begin again folks!

While on the subject of beginnings, I've recently taken time to explore my options for bottoms (trousers, shorts, etc.). Although my current obsession dabbles in all thing slimming, this photo from The Sartorialist is opening my eyes for a roomier silhouette. Notice his trousers? They may be a bit too wide in the ankle for me (the details being of utmost importance), but that's nothing that a good tailor can't fix. Maybe the carrot fit (a generous cut in the seat/thigh area, with a constant slimming effect as it draws down the leg) could be something I could get accustomed to. S/S will be the time to shine :)

Have a great night!
