Yes, I'm very aware: summer is on the march. While everyone else is busy prepping for finals and choosing "vacay" destinations, I'll be putting my energies into something a bit different. Today, I'm bringing out my "inner stylist" by  introducing a new category in the blog: In The Mix. These posts will have outfits that I've put together (for both men and women, so don't fret <3). As always, the posts will also be supplemented and copied to my Tumblr, Followgram and Pinterest (all links provided below) <3

RUNDOWN: Oliver Spencer brogues, SLOWEAR chambray shirt. Paul Smith trousers, shades by Linda Farrow and Marni oversized holdall <3

Have a great day! <3

Unlike most of the industry insiders busting their chops for every fashion week (who I slightly envy, mind you), I'm busy working on my transition from Americus to Atlanta (one that's much needed, for sure). Summer 2012 is shaping up to be insanely busy and rewarding, to say the least. Perusing Twitter this evening let me stumble upon an event that seems to be gaining a lot of buzz lately: Atlanta International Fashion Week (AIFW from here on out <3 - link provided here). Reading the bio provides a detailed look at the agenda, but just like any event fashion related, reading about it is just the half of it (as one can imagine). If you plan to be in the downtown area in July (which I plan to be, covering and absorbing as much info as I can to share to you all), definitely drop in on the action and see what ATL has to offer in the name of fashion!

Many of you can relate to my absurd enthusiasm over those orange nuances that designers peppered in their collections a few months ago. Those days are long gone, although the choice of colorways to rock is something to always stay on top of (or pin down, whichever you choose :] ). One of my favorite shops, Brooks Brothers, got off to an early start when they highlighted their new summer campaign. If you wanna make a statement (or simply enliven a sluggish wardrobe) pay attention to these two colors: mint green and natural (white). Obviously, you can compromise with how you mix these (also: don't fret if you can't find an "exact" match to these. Most  will do fine including accessories in these colors to their arsenal, which should be a bit easier to nab than wardrobe pieces). Kanye wears mint green well in this denim ensemble below:
If I had to choose, I'd probably trade in his jeans for something with a pop of color (plum trousers maybe?). White and natural nuances have, of course, endless flexibility. For me, the best options include anything that isn't too clean and "showy". I pulled a look from Mr Porter that I'm falling in love with (seen here):
My choice for bottoms, again, would lean towards something more with color (noticing something here? I'm a sucker for color-blocking *grins*), but otherwise this example is perfect for an autumn/winter look. Use your worn-in denim to add laxity and control to a very dressed up blazer /top in egg white for a winning combo (also: make sure your footwear isn't overly "boxy" - it can weigh down your overall look, which is obviously bad). Other than that, get ready to break out your hammocks and pinots: summer is set to be amazing!
Have a great day! <3
